Split Pine
Artist's Notes: Split pine came from a backpacking trip in the Smokies many years back. I had held on to ths image taken from Mount Sterling but could never seem to connect with a suitable composition that balanced the tree with the distant range. Finally after bringing in gesso to the watercolor I hit on an analogous color harmony that seemed to provide the missing link.
